Chom : The hornlike finial you see at the top corner where the gable meets the roof ridge is called the 'cho fa'.
Willaim : What about the smaller one over there ?
Chom : The smaller finials are called the 'hang hong' which means the tail of a swan. Do you see those tooth-like ridges running down the sloping edges of the gable ?

It is said that Phraya Prasithsongkhram, who was then the second Kanchanaburi governor, ordered to build the province's gate and wall in 1831 (B.E.2374). Other documents indicated that Wat Tai was built by a Thai soldier named Phlai Chumphol who won over the battle from the Burmese troop in Mangkorn Thong Cave. He then built Wat Tai for the commemoration of the Thai soldiers who died during the battle.
